Before coming to Canada, Matheus Fedato was studying Mechanical Engineering in Brazil, but his real dream was to become a financial analyst. He decided he would work and study abroad to gain experience and training. His top three choices were Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

Matheus was looking for a school that would provide an outstanding education with a personal and compassionate approach to teaching. He decided to first study English at ILAC in Vancouver for ten months and then entered The Service Excellence Program at ILAC International College to gain Canadian workplace skills.

“Since the beginning, I knew that I chose the school that believes what I believe: a world with transparency and integrity,” says Matheus.

Matheus did his co-op, which is the work experience part of the program, as an Education Planner at Information Planet in Vancouver. Information Planet is a well-known international education agency that offers study, work and travel opportunities in Canada and around the world.

During his work placement, Matheus realized that the Sales Fundamentals and Customer Service Skills courses he took at ILAC IC taught him to better understand what leadership means in the Canadian workplace. He now hopes to use his new skills to help his potential clients complete their financial goals back in Brazil.

“I know now how to negotiate with all kinds of people and go beyond their expectations,” says Matheus. “Living abroad can be a life-changing experience, especially dealing with the challenges and overcoming the roadblocks that appear along the way.”

On June 1st , Matheus finished his program at ILAC IC after first arriving in Canada one year ago. He feels that he has learned a lot about Canada, the world, but most of all, about himself.

“I personally have become a more open-minded person able to see the world and people from a different perspective. Working and studying with new friends from all over the world gave me a purpose and a cause to stand for,” says Matheus. “Thanks to ILAC, ILACIC and my new friends for being part of this wonderful experience. I had great teachers and staff members that guided me along my journey that I hope to keep in touch with my whole life.”

Do you want to study and work in Canada like Matheus?  Programs in Service Excellence are offered year-round and are 26-48 weeks long, depending on your interests.  Visit ILAC International College for more information.
