ILAC Quarantine Chronicles DAY 7: Good morning, Canada!

I started my day drawn to the window view because the weather outside looks unpleasant – it seems that it is snowing and raining at the same time. You cannot even see the CN Tower. I did not sleep well last night and I really would like to go out, but not into this sleet! I was glad that I could stay cozy and warm indoors today.

Although I usually express myself as enthusiastic and energetic, my mood was somehow low today. I am sensing that this might have been my crisis day. I did not feel homesick, but I was really eager to escape  isolation and start living the normal life. After a few minutes of self-pity, I knew I needed to turn my mood around. I had to focus on pleasurable things to shake off the negativity and hopelessness. At the end, I knew it would be not help me with anything, and it might just distract me from all the nice things I could experience during the day. I accepted the fact that the rules are rules, and I’m dedicated to keeping everyone safe while continuing with the mandatory quarantine. This quarantine is just temporary anyway – soon it will be spring and I will be outside everyday!

I switched my focus and exchanged my attitude of counting my problems, for counting my blessings. The day unrolled nicely. I worked and then exercised, which completely changed the chemistry in my body and helped me to release endorphins that triggered even more positive feelings.

I warmed up and combined a few YouTube videos focused on specific parts. If you are not a big fan of these kinds of workout routines, you can always search for more activities that are fun that fit your interest. This could be Yoga, Pilates, Body Fight, Tabata or event dancing.

I like to learn new dance moves, so I often check out The Underground Dance Centre’s on-demand classes via their new Turnnout platform.  I can attend “voted #1 best online dance classes”, exercise whenever I want from the comfort of home, and sharpen my dance skills while having fun. Toronto’s The Underground Dance Centre offers a great variety of styles such as Jazz Funk, Contemporary, Hip-Hop, Dancehall, Heels, and many more.

I feel so much better and cheerful after dancing! It is amazing how you can change your perception in one hour of a proper movement. My dinner arrived and I wanted to relax because I didn’t not sleep well last night. I turned on Netflix and shortly fell asleep. Good night!
