ILAC Quarantine Chronicles DAY 13: Almost done!

It is Tuesday and I have only one day left with this gorgeous view that I can look at from my comfortable bed at Parkside Residence. Although, I am excited to go outside, move to a new home and explore the city of Toronto, I feel the need to enjoy it fully every day. I actually find it funny how obsessed I became with this view. Every time when I need to stretch my legs, when I brush my teeth or when I have a moment of releasing all my thoughts, I come to this stunning panorama and take it all in.

As the date of my last Covid test is approaching, I wanted to double-check if my test appointment is scheduled correctly. I sent an email to the ILAC nurse Wendy, and almost fell off the chair when I read her reply. Due to the fact that I came as an ILAC member, I do not need to have this last test done, therefore I do not need to wait another 48 hours for the negative test result! This means that when my mandatory quarantine ends, I can go free! I am truly excited!

Even though I will not experience the final Covid test myself, I was still prepared for it. Due to the evolving situation requirements can change quickly and what applies today might or might not be valid for the time of your own journey, so it is important to check every time.

As the day goes by, I at my sandwich with salad I got for lunch, and continued writing the blog and other work tasks. At 5:30 p.m. the sunset filled my room with beautiful colors which were followed by the dark curtain and sparkling city lights from the gigantic skyscrapers standing across the downtown. I started to wonder about the CN Tower. Each evening the light set up shows different colours. Sometimes, it is just one or two colours but today it looks like a rainbow!

Although, I lived in Toronto before, I never wondered what the true reason behind it might be. Apparently, the CN Tower has its own Lighting Schedule, and the colours change each night based on the unique occasion! It is actually very sweet how this city tries to keep awareness of many special days and celebrations. Just to give you an example, International Women’s Day on March 8th is celebrated by lighting the tower pink, and Saint Patrick’s Day shines green every year on March 17th.

I personally admire that Canada is open, progressive, multicultural, welcoming and often gives emphasis to things we often take for granted. This country is very unique in its diversity and appreciates of all cultures. I always find it interesting to meet people from different parts of the world and hear their stories, as the stories themselves are often inspiring.

I love Canada and I’m so happy to be here!
